Clayton J. Kicklighter Obituary – Florida Times-Union
Clayton J. Kicklighter, age 99, beloved husband, father and philanthropist departed this life on November 16, 2022. He was born in Baxley, Georgia on March 6, 1923, and moved to Jacksonville, Florida in May 1930. He married his wife , Harriet J. Hutson in 1953, and they had one child (Pamela H. Kicklighter). He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela H. Kicklighter, Mother Sallie Kicklighter, Father John Kicklighter, Sister Hazel Kicklighter Warren, Brothers Paxton and Spencer Kicklighter.
Clayton J. Kicklighter attended elementary, junior and high schools in Jacksonville and the University of Florida. He joined the US Army and served in World War II. After the war, Clayton went into the Real Estate Business and became a Broker. He decided to finish college, attending Jacksonville University. Clayton graduated after Jacksonville University became a 4-year university, in their first graduating class.
Clayton J. Kicklighter joined the Free and Accepted Masons of Florida 68 years ago and served as Master of Orange Park Lodge. He also joined the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, the York Rite of Free Masonry, Morocco Shriners, and the Order of the Eastern Star. Clayton has been given Honors in Masonry, 33rd Degree Mason and Grand Cross of Florida. He was also a member of the Red Cross of Constantine, the Head of Scottish Rite as a Personal Representative for 7 years.
Clayton J. Kicklighter was a General Contractor and Real Estate Broker for many years and has built store buildings and houses in Jacksonville, Duval and Clay County areas.
Funeral Services will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Charles Lever officiating on November 22nd at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hardage-Giddons Oaklawn Cemetery.
