Conejo Players Theater kicks off its 65th season with the launch of the 2023 Youth Theater Intensive program.

Sessions will meet Sat., Feb. 25, May 27, June 17, July 22, Aug. 26 and Sept. 16 at the theater, 351 S. Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks. Students do not need to attend every session.

The program does not require preregistration and is open for youth ages 6 through 18.

The youth intensive is a free, non-competitive yearlong program designed to introduce students to the entire production process, from the page to the stage.

The program will be led by Conejo Player Theater professionals along with special guests to help introduce theater elements such as set design, lighting and music development.

“The overall goal of these sessions is for the structured development of the 2023 ‘Home for the Holidays’ production, which will be staged at the theater in December,” said Elena Mills, program co-founder.

“Students will create the script, learn to develop the scenes, songs and all elements of production, such as design, direction and choreography,” she said.

Open auditions for the “Home for the Holidays” show are Oct. 15 and 16. The show will run Dec. 8 to 10.

“Our goal is to develop and inspire our youth to further their interest in theater arts, both onstage and offstage,” said Beth Eslick, program co-founder.
