Irish Hill theater staff mourns killed co-worker
The man shot and killed in Irish Hill on Thursday worked at Commonwealth Theater Center. On Saturday, Commonwealth Theater Center posted a statement on its website naming him as Kenny Maier. The statement read: “Kenny Maier, a beloved member of our administrative staff lost his life due to a senseless act of gun violence near our building. His loss is a tragedy and our hearts are with his family.” According to his obituary, Maier was 51 and worked in maintenance. The Louisville Metro Police Department says around 4 pm on Thursday, they responded to calls of a shooting in the 500 block of Cooper Street. Upon arriving at the scene, LMPD said that officers found a man who had been shot. EMS were called and pronounced the man dead on the scene. LMPD’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and says there are currently no suspects.
