You can still catch the skills of “the Popcorn Guy” in a TikTok that has garnered millions of views in just three days.
The video starts off with TikTok user oanderle, also known as Oscar Leal, just getting out of a showing of Avatar: Way of the Water at the Century 16 Theater in Corpus Christi. But it wasn’t the movie that blew Leal away, but an employee known as “the Popcorn Guy,” filling a popcorn order. He even carries the title on his movie theater name tag.
What viewers witness next is a the Popcorn Guy artfully stacking layers of popcorn and butter, rinse and repeat, into a bucket. All of this is done to Celine Dion’s Grammy- and Oscar-winning love ballad “My Heart Will Go On” from the 1997 film. Titanic. We then see Leal completely stunned by Popcorn Guy’s skills.
“Forget Salt Bae we got Butter King,” one comment read.
Corpus Christi station KIII reports that the employee’s name is Jason Grossboll and he has been working at the theater for 10 years.
“At first, no one really understood it, but as time passed on, people loved it,” Grossboll told KIII.
As of Friday, the video already had over 5 million views and had been shared across the internet. Even Cinemark shared the video to their official Instagram page.
